Decision Making and Technology in Wound Care - Challenges and Opportunities

Treatments and technology in wound care have continued to develop and advance rapidly. In many countries, skin and wound care is also viewed through the lens of patient safety, which has resulted in an increased focus on improving the quality of wound care provision and delivery.  Health and social care professionals often drawn upon treatments and technology in order to deliver high quality wound care. However, relatively little is known about how health and social care professionals make judgements and decisions about how to use technology and other innovations in wound care. This presentation will explore and discuss the factors that impact on and influence the manner in which nurses make judgements and decisions about the use to technology in wound care using the example of pressure ulcers.
